Beyond the Box - the Engineering of Freeform Surfaces in Steel and Glass
Envelopes enrobe buildings. Building envelopes of steel and glass reduce the applied elements to the supporting structure and the transparent cladding. A precise understanding of the workflow within the design development is necessary in order to achieve a good correlation of the conceptual design with the executed project. The following paper intends to provide a brief introduction into the principles of engineering of freeform surfaces.
